Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has revealed that the Reds did not drop their heads after back to back defeats in the league and the FA Cup.

Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Brighton courtesy of a Mohamed Salah penalty on Saturday, and extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points.

The Reds were far from their free-flowing best as Brighton made it hard for Klopp’s side, but they found a way after Salah was fouled in the penalty box.

Henderson started the game in midfield as Fabinho was deployed in a makeshift centre-back role, and the skipper has revealed that confidence was never low in the Liverpool camp even after the two losses.

“We have spoken enough about the last two games”, Henderson told Liverpool's official website.

“All of our focus was on this game and you can only have the opportunity to get the three points in your next game; that’s what we had here and that’s what all the concentration was on.

“We are still very confident as a group and very together, as you can see.

“That plays a big part in confidence going forward and you could see we didn’t lose our confidence.

"We kept our nerve, were patient and got the job done.”

After two successive away games in the Premier League, Liverpool will have home comforts in their next two games as they host Crystal Palace and then Leicester City, respectively, in their remaining two games in January.
