Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has insisted Spurs outcast Vincent Janssen will not feature in his plans, despite returning to fitness and scoring for the Under-23s.

Janssen, who joined Spurs from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2016, has yet to make an appearance for the first team this season, after struggling with a foot injury.

However, the Dutchman returned to action for the Under-23s by netting a goal against West Ham Under-23s on Sunday and could have been forgiven for thinking he might still have a future at Spurs, especially considering Harry Kane’s injury scare.

The England skipper appeared to have picked up an ankle problem towards the end of Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United and the situation leaves Pochettino with just one senior striker in the form of Fernando Llorente.

Despite Janssen’s goalscoring return to action, Pochettino insisted the striker will not feature in his plans for the remainder of the season.

“No, he is not in my plans”, Pochettino said in a press conference.

Janssen, who spent last season on loan at Fenerbahce, has a contract with Spurs that runs until 2020.

Tottenham will next face relegation battlers Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday in the Premier League.
