Liverpool midfielder James Milner has identified Alisson as the Reds’ standout performer this season.

The Brazilian joined the club for big money last summer, and has made the difference for Liverpool this season with several crucial saves.

Alisson’s consistent performances in goal have helped the Reds keep their place at the top of the table and boast the best defensive record in the league this season.

The former Roma star had an 84.2 per cent save percentage at the half way mark of the season, a figure higher than that of Jan Oblak and David de Gea.

Milner has admitted that it is not easy picking one standout Liverpool player considering the whole squad have performed well, but has singled out Alisson for settling in immediately and helping the side on the pitch.

“It’s hard to pick out one player because everyone in the squad has done so well, not just the 11 who are starting”, Milner said in the official Liverpool magazine.

“We have made a lot of changes during games and a number of players have come in and done really well.

“I think maybe one you could select is Alisson.

"Coming to a new league is never easy.

“It’s a new lifestyle and you are also getting used to the weather and things like that, but he’s been unbelievable: from how he is around the place, to how good he is on the pitch with his feet and with the saves he makes.”

Liverpool currently lead their closest challengers Manchester City by four points, and bounced back with a win against Brighton in their last game following back to back defeats.
