Leeds United full-back Luke Ayling has revealed that he and his team-mates as Championship players never thought that they would get the opportunity to work under such a reputed manager as Marcelo Bielsa.
The veteran Argentine manager was appointed the man-in-charge at Elland Road at the start of the season and has since shown his capability by pulling the team up to first spot in the league table.
The 27-year-old, while recognising the contribution of the manager, insists that it was beyond his dreams as a player from the second division to have thought about working with Bielsa.
However, now that he and his team-mates have got the opportunity, they are learning from the Argentine, Ayling says.
“I don’t think us, as players in the Championship, ever thought we would get a chance to work with a manager like this, a man who has worked at the top", Ayling was quoted as saying by Leeds Live.
“The club have shown faith in him, they have gone out and got such a good manager, and us as players are learning so much from him.
“Hopefully everything works out in the end.”
The Whites are at the top of the Championship pile at the moment, enjoying a four-point lead after 27 matches, and are favourites for promotion.
