Roma have inserted themselves in the transfer saga involving Chelsea target Nicolo Barella by reaching an agreement over a contract with the player.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been at the centre of one of the biggest transfer sagas of the January transfer window, with Chelsea and Napoli being the key players.




Barella is one of the midfielders Chelsea are eyeing as a replacement for Cesc Fabregas, but the club are yet to take a call on whether they will pursue him in January.

Napoli are keen to go all guns blazing to land the Italian and are ready to table a fresh offer and meet the player’s representatives soon to offer him a contract.
 


And it seems one more big name Italian club are now getting serious about Barella as according to Italian radio station Radio Radio, Roma have thrashed out personal terms with the midfielder.

The Giallorossi have been keeping tabs on the Italian for a while and have now moved in to make their interest in him clear.

Roma are now set to approach Cagliari and are keen to convince them to agree on a deal that would see them pay the transfer fee over four instalments.

The Serie A outfit want around €55m in order to sell Barella in the January transfer window.
