Shanghai SIPG are weighing up a potential bid for out-of-favour Arsenal star Mesut Ozil during the winter transfer window, it has been claimed.

Ozil has fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal after failing to fit in under the Unai Emery regime at the Emirates so far this season.

The 30-year-old could be unlikely to feature prominently during Emery’s reign at Arsenal and the club claimed to be open to offloading the out-of-favour midfielder this month.

And according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Shanghai SIPG have zeroed in on Ozil as a potential target during the winter transfer window.

Arsenal are believed to be interested in using the funds procured from Ozil’s departure to try and delve into the transfer market in a bid to remain in pursuit of their targets.

The Chinese Super League side are willing to offer €10m per season in order to try and tempt Ozil to make the switch to Shanghai.

However, it remains to be seen whether Shanghai SIPG can pull off the ambitious move this month.

Ozil, who was offered to both Inter and Juventus this month, looks destined to leave the Emirates amidst the ever-growing interest in him from potential suitors across the world.
