Cagliari are considering signing on-loan Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic from Atalanta in the January transfer window.

Chelsea signed the midfielder from Hajduk Split in 2014 but he is yet to make an appearance from the club and is currently on his fifth loan stint, at Atalanta.

The midfielder has made just eight starts in Serie A this season and wants to play more football in the latter half of the season.

Pasalic has his suitors in Italy and according to Sky Italia, Cagliari are interested in signing the midfielder during the January transfer window.

The Serie A outfit are looking to sign midfielders in January and the on-loan Chelsea star has emerged as a target for the club this month.

The Serbian would also consider the move as he wants to play more football but Atalanta don’t want to lose him in the middle of the season.

Despite not being a regular starter, Pasalic remains a valued member of the squad and Atalanta don’t want the hassle of bringing in a replacement in the final weeks of the window.

Chelsea are unlikely to intervene or put a hurdle in between if Cagliari can convince Atalanta to give up the midfielder.
