Arsenal manager Unai Emery feels Marcelo Bielsa’s decision to spy on opposition teams’ training is just an example of his obsession for details.

Emery and Bielsa often came up against each other when the two worked in the Spanish Primera Liga, before the Argentine moved to Marseille.

Bielsa decided to give a detailed presentation on Wednesday of how the Leeds United staff look at opposition teams and the work done behind the scenes following the spy-gate incident, where he admitted to having sent someone to watch Derby County in training.

Emery has explained that Bielsa is a big professional even if he is obsessive, and that it is subjective to deem what Bielsa did as right or wrong.

“There are two things. One, is it legal or illegal? Two is fair play”, Emery told a press conference ahead of Arsenal’s clash against Chelsea in the Premier League.

“I know him. In his career, above all in Spain, I know he is obsessive but a very big professional doing his work.

“For me, I respect him a lot. He’s one of the best coaches in the world.

“Everyone can have his opinion. Mine is only mine for my inside.

“You can ask me. Did you do sometimes that? No.”

Emery’s side Arsenal will hope to bounce back after their defeat against West Ham last weekend when they host Chelsea on Saturday.
