Roma are set to offer a new contract to Arsenal linked midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo in February as they look to see off interest in his services.

Zaniolo, who joined the Giallorossi from Inter in the summer, has attracted interest from Unai Emery and Raul Sanllehi as they aim to bolster the Gunners' midfield ahead of the departure of Aaron Ramsey.

The Gunners have been linked with a possible summer swoop for Zaniolo, but according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Roma are poised to take action to make sure they are in a strong position.

Sporting director Monchi has been in contact with Zaniolo's agent, Claudio Vigorelli, with the aim of negotiating a contract that would extend his stay until 2024.

The 19-year-old will receive an increase of €1.5m, with Roma confident of agreeing terms with him in the first week of next month.

If the contract is agreed, it will only be signed and kick in at the start of July due to regulatory issues.

With Arsenal keen and other clubs potentially showing an interest in the player ahead of the summer, Roma want to strengthen their position.

Zaniolo, who is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Italy, has notched up 16 appearances in all competitions under Eusebio Di Francesco so far this term.
