Former Scotland international Barry Ferguson has urged Scott Allan to make the move from Celtic to Hibernian this month after he agreed a pre-contractual agreement to join the Easter Road club in the summer.

Allan’s contract with Celtic comes to an end in the summer and he was free to speak to other teams regarding a move, something Hibs boss Neil Lennon took full advantage of.

The 27-year old is firmly out of Brendan Rodgers' plans at Celtic Park and Ferguson does not want to see Allan kicking his heels for another six months.

Ferguson is a fan of Allan's talents and thinks the midfielder desperately needs to play.

And he feels joining Hibernian is the right move for the midfielder.

“He is a player that I've always liked. I've always enjoyed watching him”, Ferguson said on PLZ Soccer.

“He's got that extra special in the final third, whether it be a pass or he can score a goal as well.

“So I'm glad that he's decided to go to Hibs in the summer.

“I just hope he can get there before it because he needs to start playing.

“He's a guy full of talent."

The former Scotland international was on the books at Hibernian from 2014 to 2015 and his performances convinced Celtic to make a move for him.

Allan has already had spells with eleven clubs despite being just 27 years old.
