Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that his side's 4-3 win against Crystal Palace is a relief after the Eagles pushed the Reds until the final minute.

Roy Hodgson’s side went into half time with a 1-0 lead, but two quick-fire second half goals by Liverpool turned the game on its head.

Crystal Palace equalised through James Tomkins to make it 2-2, but Liverpool pressed in the final 15 minutes to go 4-2 up before an injury time consolation strike by Max Meyer.

Klopp explained that his team came up against a good counter-attacking side in Crystal Palace, and in the end, the result is a relief more than anything else.

"It's a massive relief”, Klopp told the BBC's Match of the Day.

“We knew for different reasons the game would be difficult.

“Crystal Palace traditionally do well against Liverpool and with the physicality it was clear it would be like the first half was.

"They are really good at counter attacks and set pieces, Wilfried Zaha is a world-class player and he gets into a one-on-one situation and we're one down.

“We had to stay positive, being one down is not a massive blow, we just needed to win the second half and did what we had to do."

The win has put Liverpool seven points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table, and the Reds will hope Pep Guardiola’s side drop points come Sunday.

The Reds will next take on Leicester City in a midweek game at Anfield at the end of the month.
