Noel Whelan has reiterated his call for Leeds United to make signings in this month's transfer window following the Whites' 2-1 loss at Stoke City.

Marcelo Bielsa named a bench packed full of youngsters at the bet365 Stadium and there were question marks asked over a lack of options after the game.

Leeds have now lost three of their last four Championship games, though they continue to lead the table by a point over Norwich City, and Whelan wants to see more options, especially experienced heads, brought into the football club this month to aid the promotion push.

"I'd like to see a bit more experience, a bit more help around the young players", he said on BBC Radio Leeds after the game.

"I don't mind the balance that they have, I don't mind the young players being there, but they need more experienced players on the bench as well that they can choose from, rather than putting a lot of pressure on young players to change the course of a game.

"I think we need to bring bodies in full stop. I've always said that and I won't change my mind.

"I know what sort of players I would like if I was going for promotion", Whelan added.

Leeds have a golden opportunity to return to winning ways next weekend when they travel to struggling Rotherham United.

They are then due to play host to second placed side Norwich City at Elland Road in their first game in February.
