Manchester United have tabled an offer for Monaco’s 16-year-old midfielder Hannibal Mejbri, according to French radio station RMC.
Monaco beat off competition from a slew of clubs to sign the young midfielder last summer but he could be on his way out just half-a-season later.
Several top European clubs have been monitoring his progress in French youth football and have been keen to snare him away from the Ligue 1 giants.
Manchester United are one of the clubs who have been keeping tabs on him and it has been claimed that they have made a concrete move to sign him on deadline day.
It has been suggested that Manchester United have been in talks with Monaco over signing him and have tabled a bid to sign him this month.
Monaco do not want him to leave but Mejbri is on a developmental contract at the club and they cannot refuse any negotiations.
The French club will be able to do little if the France Under-16 international agrees to leave and join Manchester United by tonight.
Manchester United are hopeful of getting a deal done and adding the youngster’s talent to their academy.
