Former top flight striker Andy Gray insists that Rafael Benitez can have no complaints after his Newcastle United side conceded a late goal at Wolves to draw 1-1.

The Magpies took the lead in the Premier League clash in the 56th minute through Isaac Hayden, who finished well when found with a through ball by Fabian Schar.

Benitez saw his side closing in on all three points, but deep into injury time, Willy Boly beat Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka to the ball and headed Wolves an equaliser; it was a controversial incident, with Boly looking to have put his arms on Dubravka when jumping for the ball.

The Newcastle boss was left fuming as it ended 1-1, but Gray insists the Spaniard has nothing to complain about when it comes to Wolves' goal.

It is unclear if Benitez was unhappy with the time played by the referee or Boly's challenge on Dubravka, but Gray thinks the Spaniard has no case on either point.

"The goalkeeper has cost them three points in the last two games, which isn't great", Gray said on beIN SPORTS after the game.

"I am not sure what Rafa has got to complain about because it was 94:30 the ball went in the net, but the laws of the game state that it is a minimum of four minutes.

"So if the referee feels that there is another 30 seconds then he is entitled to do so.

"No [I did not think there was a foul].

"When players go up with goalkeepers nine times out of ten a referee will give the goalkeeper an advantage and blow.

"But I didn't think it was a foul", Gray added.

The draw means Newcastle are just a point clear of the drop zone in the Premier League standings.
