West Ham United attacker Michail Antonio believes it is time he stood up with goals and assists for the Hammers in order to return to his best.

Antonio, who was named Hammer of the Year in 2017, has struggled to replicate the same kind of form since then due to recurring injuries that have curtailed his progress in east London.

However, the Englishman has managed to steer clear of injuries so far this season and has been a vital cog in Manuel Pellegrini’s first team set-up at the London Stadium.

The 28-year-old netted during the 1-1 draw against Liverpool and backed it up with an assist against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday in the Premier League.

And in the wake of his commendable performances in the Claret and Blue of West Ham, Antonio has admitted he is eyeing recapturing his best form in front of goal this season.

The attacker also admitted it has been hard work getting back to his best shape and insisted he will continue working hard to impress the manager in training and regain his goalscoring form for the Hammers.

“It’s taken time to get where I am and I now have the stamina to be out there running at people and taking people on constantly”, Antonio told the club’s official website.

“Hopefully, I keep going, I can stay in the team and keep impressing.

“Right now, I need to start scoring and creating more goals as they are the parts of my game I’ve not got back properly yet, so hopefully that will start happening sooner rather than later.

“I’m getting into good positions, which is a positive, but it’s about hitting the back of the net now.

“I don’t know why I’m not scoring, but I’ll keep working on it, keep doing it in training and hopefully it will come naturally to me on matchday.”

Antonio, who has notched up 28 appearances in all competitions this term, has scored four goals and registered five assists.
