Rangers coach Michael Beale has conceded the Gers have lacked the quality in big moments, which could have made a difference to their fortunes this season.

The Light Blues suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to bitter rivals Celtic in the Old Firm derby on Sunday at Parkhead as they lost further ground in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.

Despite being reduced to ten-men, Rangers clawed their way back into the game through Ryan Kent’s second half equaliser, but missed a golden opportunity to take the lead before James Forrest netted the winner.

And after their defeat at Parkhead, Beale has conceded the Gers have lacked the quality in big moments during certain games which could have made a difference to their fortunes this term.

The Gers coach stressed Rangers would have had six to 10 points more in the league, if they had been more clinical during big moments and insisted they will work on improving.

“I think we have lacked a quality at times in big moments, and that would add to a greater number of points, probably six to 10 more points in the league for sure, and there has never been a moment where I have felt we have been outplayed in a whole game”, Beale told Rangers TV.

“But, there have certainly been periods of 10 or 15 minutes in games which have been difficult – I can only think of the two Old Firm games where we have had extensive periods of difficult moments in terms of one half.

“But for the majority of matches this season, we have been the team with the ball and the most dominant team, and we have had a problem taking our chances or opening the door.

“That is something the staff are looking at, the players are certainly working hard, but maybe we need to get them some help in those areas.”

Rangers return to action in the Premiership when they host Hearts at Ibrox this evening.
