German Bundesliga side Hannover may be reluctant to hand Arsenal loanee Takuma Asano any further starts this season as it would trigger a purchase option.

The Gunners shipped the Japan international out on loan to Hannover in the summer, continuing his development in German football.

The 24-year-old first headed to Germany on loan to Stuttgart in 2016, just a month after signing for Arsenal.

He spent another campaign with Stuttgart and has clocked up a total of 28 appearances in the Bundesliga and 26 in the 2.Bundesliga.

But the Japanese may find the door to further starts at Hannover closed as, according to German daily Bild, if he starts one more match the Bundesliga side will be forced to sign him.

Asano has made nine starts for Hannover so far.

And if he makes one more start, then Hannover will be compelled to pay Arsenal €3m and sign the forward on a permanent basis.

Hannover are rock bottom of the Bundesliga with just 14 points from 27 league games.
