Saint-Etienne president Roland Romeyer has confirmed his club's interest in snapping up Aston Villa and West Ham United target Harold Moukoudi.

The defender, who snubbed a move to Aston Villa last summer despite holding talks with the Championship club, is out of contract at Ligue 2 side Le Havre in the summer and as such is an attractive option for several sides.

A number of clubs are keen on the 20-year-old, with Aston Villa and West Ham linked, while Serie A giants Napoli are interested.

But Saint-Etienne have in recent days appeared to be in pole position, with Moukoudi looking to play in Ligue 1.

And Romeyer has confirmed that Les Verts do want to land Moukoudi, though he is unwilling to say any more.

He told French sports daily L'Equipe: "We have an interest in him, but he belongs to Le Havre until 30th June and they pay him every month."

Romeyer was pushed on whether Saint-Etienne could manage to wrap up a deal for Moukoudi by the end of the week and rubbished those thoughts.

"No, that's for sure", the French side's supremo insisted.
