Former Rangers star Andy Little has hailed the performance the Gers put in against Hearts on Wednesday night, dubbing the first half an hour from Steven Gerrard's men "breathtaking".

Gerrard was looking for his side to produce a reaction after losing the weekend Old Firm clash against fierce rivals Celtic and the Gers came up trumps for their boss.

Rangers eased to a 3-0 win over Craig Levein's side, going 2-0 up by the 21st minute thanks to goals from Jermain Defoe and Connor Goldson.

Scott Arfield added a third just after half time and Little was delighted with what he saw.

He wrote on Twitter: "The first half an hour was breathtaking from Rangers last night.

"Midfield 3/5 completely ran the show. Hearts chasing shadows."

Little now believes that Rangers will finish the campaign strongly as they look to put down a marker for next season, when Gerrard will want the Gers to push Celtic all the way.

"Rangers to finish strongly I reckon."

Rangers are next in action away at Motherwell, but must make do without Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent, who are suspended, while Gerrard will serve a touchline ban.
