Nottingham Forest boss Martin O'Neill has set his mind on keeping hold of Joe Worrall in the summer, following the defender's loan spell at Rangers.

Worrall was sent to Rangers on a season-long loan deal last summer and has been handed regular game time by Gers boss Steven Gerrard.

The Rangers manager has admitted he would like to keep Worrall, though the defender has been coy over what his future might hold, while reiterating that he is under contract at Nottingham Forest.

Forest boss O'Neill wanted to take Worrall back to the City Ground in January, cutting short his loan, but a clause in the agreement meant the Gers were able to resist their desires.

But Rangers' chances of keeping Worrall beyond the summer look slim as, according to the Nottingham Post, O'Neill is clear he wants the centre-back at the City Ground.

While Rangers could make a move for Worrall, it is less than clear the Scottish club could offer the level of money needed to convince the Tricky Trees to sell.

Worrall also remains a big Nottingham Forest fan and may be keen to be part of a promotion push under O'Neill next term.

The 22-year-old has made 31 appearances across all competitions for Rangers so far this season.
