Real Madrid are prepared to offer Manchester United target Raphael Varane a better pay package in order to hold on to him beyond the summer.

The French World Cup winner is considering leaving Real Madrid in the next transfer window as he is reportedly seeking a fresh challenge at a new club.

Varane has been at Real Madrid since 2011, winning all the major trophies and has been linked with wanting to try something new.

Manchester United have been keeping their eyes peeled on the situation and are prepared to make him the most expensive defender in the world if he eventually decides to leave the Bernabeu.

But Zinedine Zidane has made it clear that he does not want to lose his compatriot and according to Spanish daily AS, the Real Madrid hierarchy are now keen to move in and resolve the situation.

It has been claimed that the Spanish giants are prepared to offer him fresh and improved terms in order to keep him at the club.

Varane is still 25 and Real Madrid do not want to lose one of the best defenders in the world this summer.

It remains to be seen whether a better salary package will change Varane’s mind about leaving the club at the end of the season.

If Real Madrid were to sell, they are claimed to be only prepared to deal for €100m.
