Liverpool have taken soundings over a potential swoop for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, who is also on Chelsea and Manchester United's radar.

The Frenchman is tipped to leave Lyon at the end of the season and is expected to command a transfer fee in excess of €70m when he eventually packs his bags at the Ligue 1 club.

Several top European clubs are showing serious interest in Ndombele, including Italian champions Juventus and French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

According to French sports daily L'Equipe, Liverpool have taken soundings on a potential deal, but the Reds may need to trim their midfield options to make room for Ndombele.

Manchester United have long been interested in Paul Pogba’s international team-mate, but it is claimed they have major work to do to convince the player to move to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are eyeing him as a potential replacement for Ander Herrera.

Chelsea are also interested, but the Blues have floated the idea of Ndombele staying at Lyon for a further season before moving.

Ndombele wants a sporting challenge and it remains to be seen where he might end up.
