Rangers technical coach Tom Culshaw has lauded the influence striker Jermain Defoe is having at Ibrox, both on and off the pitch.

The Gers moved to land Defoe from Premier League side Bournemouth on an 18-month loan deal in the January transfer window.

He has been forced to play second fiddle to Alfredo Morelos for most of his time at Rangers, but is enjoying a run in the team following the Colombian's recent suspension.

Culshaw has been impressed by what the 36-year-old has already brought to Rangers and insists he is a huge influence both on and off the pitch.

"You know what you're going to get from Jermain. If you give him chances he's going to score", Culshaw said on Rangers TV.

"Any chance in front of goal he will score and in training he shows that.

"I think as a personality around the place he is brilliant with all the lads.

"He helps all the younger players and he's just a great player to have around the place, on and off the pitch", the coach added.

Defoe clocked up all 90 minutes in Rangers' 3-0 win away at Motherwell on Sunday, with Scott Arfield helping himself to a hat-trick.

The experienced hitman will be looking to make sure Morelos' absence is not felt by Rangers in their coming games.
