Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta has backed his former team to take care of Manchester United in the Champions League if they play their best football.

Manchester United and Barcelona will meet for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

Barcelona are heavy favourites to beat Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side over two legs and progress to the last four of Europe’s premier club competition over the next couple of weeks.

But Manchester United’s shock win over Paris Saint-Germain in the previous round has been seen as a warning to clubs not to take the Red Devils lightly.

Iniesta insisted that it is going to be a tough tie for Barcelona but believes if his former side produce their best football, they will have enough chances to beat Manchester United.

The former Barcelona midfielder told Spanish daily Marca: “Everyone is foreseeing a tough game.

“Manchester United have already shown against PSG that you cannot take them lightly.

“But if Barcelona are at their best, they will have many chances to pass the tie.”

Manchester United have not beaten Barcelona in the Champions League since defeating them 1-0 in the semi-final stage in 2008.
