The brother of Tottenham Hotspur target Amadou Diawara has insisted that the midfielder is happy at Napoli, but is making no bones about the fact that he wants to play more football.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been at Napoli since 2016 when he joined the Serie A giants from Bologna and he has made 74 appearances for the club thus far.

However, this season under Carlo Ancelotti, Diawara has been a bit part player and only eight of his 13 league appearances have come from the starting eleven.

The midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from the Serie A giants this summer, with Premier League clubs linked, led by Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham.

But his brother, Cheick Diawara, insisted that the 21-year-old is happy at Napoli and is comfortable with life in the city of Naples as well.

He admits that the coaching staff must have their reasons to not play his brother more often, but concedes that the midfielder would like to play more and get more minutes under his belt.

Diawara’s brother told Italian radio station Radio Marte: “My brother is happy playing at Napoli.

“He is comfortable in the team and in the city and he has never complained.

“The coaches know what they are doing and if they keep him out of the team, they have their reasons.

“But it is clear Amadou would like to play more.”

Diawara has a contract until 2021 with Napoli.
