Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts has urged UEFA to ban Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho for elbowing Harry Kane on Tuesday night.

A Heung-Min Son goal was the difference as Tottenham beat Manchester City 1-0 at their new stadium in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.

However, the game was marred for Tottenham by Kane’s injury and the club are afraid that their star striker could be out for the rest of the season.

The striker went into a strong challenge on Fabian Delph in the 55th minute, but he came off worse for it with the injury.

Before the incident, Kane came in for some rough treatment, especially from Fernandinho, who looked to have elbowed him on the back of his head when Kane was lying on the turf following a collision.

Roberts wants UEFA to review the incident and ban him the Brazilian, something which means he would miss the second leg.

“Surely UEFA should look at it”, the former Spurs star took to Twitter and wrote, reacting to video footage of the incident.

“And ban him for 2-3 games as that is a red card.”

Tottenham will hope they do not miss Kane next week when they visit the Etihad for the return leg against Manchester City.
