Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that his side are not out of their Europa League quarter-final tie against Arsenal despite suffering a 2-0 defeat in the first leg at Emirates.

A strike from Aaron Ramsey and an own goal by Kalidou Koulibaly were in the first half were enough to earn a win for Arsenal in the first leg at home.

Napoli have a mountain to climb in the second leg at the Stadio San Paolo and Ancelotti is very much aware of the difficulties his team are going to face after Thursday night’s result.

But the Napoli boss stressed that Arsenal are not unbeatable and he feels his team showed enough in the second half to suggest that there is still life left in the tie.

He wants Napoli to play with more intensity at home in the second leg and show more composure, but admits that the first leg’s result has complicated matters for his team.

Ancelotti told Sky Italia: “Arsenal are not impenetrable.

“In the second half we had their measure and there was more control on the game.

“We must recover so that we can play with high intensity, with clarity and without frenzy.

“It will be very difficult after this result, but not impossible.”

Arsenal’s poor away form may confidence to Napoli ahead of next week’s clash in Italy.
