Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio lodged an enquiry for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen during his England trip.

Ausilio was in England earlier this week and was in attendance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday night when Spurs beat Manchester City 1-0.

The Inter deal-maker later watched Barcelona beat Manchester United at Old Trafford, but during his London visit he also did carry out some work for Inter’s summer plans.

The Nerazzurri want to add a big name midfielder to their squad in the summer and have been linked with interest in Ivan Rakitic and Ilkay Gundogan.

But according to Italian daily Tuttosport, another player is also on their radar as Ausilio asked for information on Eriksen as a first step towards potentially pursuing him.

The Dane will enter the final year of his contract this summer and Tottenham have struggled to convince him to sign a new deal.

He has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, but it seems more clubs are alive to his contract situation.

It is unclear whether Inter will proceed following the initial enquiry, but Eriksen is on their shortlist of targets.
