Ilkay Gundogan’s wage demands are expected to be an obstacle for Inter in the summer.

Gundogan will enter the final year of contract at Manchester City at the end of the season and he has paused all negotiations over a new deal with the club.

The German is considering his future at the Citizens and if he does not sign a new contract, Manchester City are likely to field offers for him in the coming months.

Inter have reportedly identified him as midfield target and are assessing the possibility of making a move for him in the summer.

But according to Italian daily Tuttosport, his €8m per year salary demands are expected to complicate the negotiations for Inter.

The midfielder’s contract situation means that Inter would not have to pay a big transfer fee, but his wage demands are set to be problematic.

Inter also have their eyes on Ivan Rakitic, but Barcelona are expected to ask for a fee in the region of €60m.

The Nerazzurri are considering their options and are expected to take a call on the two midfielders soon.
