Mauricio Pochettino has urged his players to treat the game against Huddersfield Town on Saturday as if it is a Champions League tie as they aim to push for a top four Premier League finish.

Spurs shift their focus back to the Premier League and the nervy race for top four on Saturday, when they face bottom-placed Huddersfield Town at their new stadium.

Unlike their opponents, the Terriers have nothing to play for after becoming the first team to be relegated this season in the wake of their defeat at Crystal Palace at the end of last month.

Despite Jan Siewert’s men equalling the unwanted record for the earliest relegation from a Premier League season, Pochettino has urged his players to give extra attention to the game.

The Spurs boss insisted they must treat the game against the Terriers as a Champions League clash, especially considering they want to finish in the top four and qualify for Europe’s elite competition next year as well.

“We need to feel it is a Champions League game because it’s going to be decisive if we want to play next season”, Pochettino told a press conference.

“We want to show everyone we deserve to be in the Champions League and we have the level to play every season in the Champions League.

“Tomorrow is a game we must win.”

Spurs will be without the services of captain and leading goalscorer Harry Kane, who picked up an injury during the win over Manchester City on Tuesday in the Champions League.
