Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard has insisted that he has no regrets over leaving Paris Saint-Germain as he wanted to play regular football.

Edouard joined Celtic on loan in 2017 before the Scottish champions signed him on a permanent deal from PSG last summer.

The Frenchman has progressed at Parkhead and has scored 19 goals in all competitions for Celtic this season, including a key goal in the Glasgow derby last month.

Edouard admits that there was a risk in leaving PSG, but insisted that he was never going to fulfil his ambition of being a top striker if he had stayed as he needed to play football.

He was quoted as saying by French sports daily L’Equipe: “From the moment I made the choice, I am assuming, I had no regrets.

“There was inevitably a risk in leaving but staying as well.

“I don’t set limits for myself, I want to be one of the best strikers and the big ones became mature only while playing.”

Former Stoke City striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting started for PSG last weekend and there are suggestions that Edouard would have eventually got his opportunity.

But the Frenchman insisted that he has no regrets and believes not everyone will make it PSG.

“It is difficult to answer, I don’t know the context.

“I made the choice to leave as obviously not everyone can succeed there.

“I don’t regret it.”
