Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown believes Diogo Dalot’s attacking ability makes him a better wing-back than a traditional full-back.

Manchester United signed the young defender from FC Porto last summer and over the course of the season, he has become an important part of the squad at Old Trafford.

His introduction into the game helped Manchester United against Paris Saint-Germain last month and he again started in a left wing-back role against Barcelona on Wednesday night.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has used him in a more attacking role and he has also even played to the right of midfield because of his ability.

Brown feels that his attacking qualities make him a better wing-back and feels Solskjaer is more comfortable with him playing further up the pitch than defending as a traditional full-back.

The former Red Devil said on MUTV when asked about Dalot’s best position: “He probably is a wing-back.

“His attacking ability is very good, he doesn’t seem under pressure and he gets good balls into the box.

“I haven’t seen anyone really get at him yet defensively, but because he has been so good attacking wise, Ole prefers him a little higher.”

Dalot, who only made eight senior appearances for Porto before leaving the club, has played 20 times for Manchester United this season.
