Former Rangers star Lee McCulloch feels his former team-mate Lee Wallace has plenty of games left in him to keep playing, even after leaving the Gers at the end of the season.

Wallace, who played an integral role in helping Rangers secure a return to the Scottish Premiership after liquidation, is out of contract at Ibrox in the summer.

The Old Firm giants have yet to make any attempts to offer an extension to Wallace and the veteran defender looks likely to seek greener pastures at the end of his existing deal at Ibrox.

And McCulloch, who played alongside Wallace during Rangers’ time in the lower divisions in Scotland, has claimed his former team-mate still has plenty left in his locker to keep playing even after leaving Rangers.

The former Ger admitted it will be an emotional moment for Wallace, but urged the defender to keep looking forward as he has the right attitude to keep playing for a few more years.

“When you walk out of Ibrox for the last time as a Ranger, it is a very emotional moment. You know how lucky and privileged you have been to have played for the club”, McCulloch wrote in his column for the Evening Times.

“It was hard for me and it will be difficult for Lee as well because he has had success there, he has worn that captain’s armband and he has been a huge figure for so many years.

“It is a difficult and sad time when you know that your time is up and it is all coming to an end so it will be hard for Lee over the next couple of weeks.

"But he just needs to keep looking forward.

“He has still got a lot of game time left in him and he has got the attitude to go and play up until 35, 36 no problem and hopefully we see Lee Wallace back doing what he does best soon.”

Wallace, who joined Rangers from Hearts in 2011, has been restricted to just two appearances off the bench so far this season.
