Liverpool have lodged an enquiry for Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa as they step up their interest in the Italy international.

The Italian, who came up through the ranks at La Viola, has attracted interest from several clubs ahead of the upcoming transfer window in the summer.

Juventus were believed to be in pole-position to land Chiesa, but according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool have now stepped up on their interest by making an enquiry.

Liverpool appear keen to learn how much would be needed to sign Chiesa, as well as assessing the likely make-up of any agreement to take him to Anfield.

Despite their interest, Jurgen Klopp and company will still have plenty of work to do if they are to convince Chiesa to leave Italy in favour of a switch to Merseyside.

The Premier League giants will face stern competition from the likes of Juventus and Inter, who are also keen on snaring Chiesa away from Florence at the end of the season.
