Eddie Gray has indicated that Leeds United will not necessarily overwhelm Wigan Athletic on Good Friday, as the Latics are in desperate need of points.

Leeds are second in the league table and have four games left to make sure that they earn automatic promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.

The Whites will be in action on Good Friday when they host Wigan at Elland Road and they are favourites to beat a side who are currently 21st in the Championship table.

Gray admits that on paper Leeds should be beating Wigan, but he indicated that it will not be as easy as it may seem as the Latics are also in need of points to avoid relegation.

They are just two points ahead of Rotherham United, who are 22nd, and the Leeds legend believes Wigan have every reason to make sure they get something from Elland Road.

The former Leeds star said on LUTV: “We are in the driving seat and you have just got to win your games and you are there.

“The Wigan game on paper looks that we should win it, but when you look at the position they are in.

“Rotherham are not getting away from them and they are hanging on there.

“Wigan will be coming to our place thinking if we get a result here and we could salvage our position in the Championship.”

After the Wigan game, Leeds will have two away trips to Brentford and Ipswich Town, respectively, with a home against Aston Villa sandwiched in-between.
