Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has emerged as Roma’s top target to become their new coach ahead of next season.

Roma sacked Eusebio Di Francesco earlier this year and roped in Claudio Ranieri until the end of the season to steady the ship at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Giallorossi want to bring in a new coach in the summer and have been looking at a number of candidates who could potentially take charge of the squad.

Roma’s technical advisor Franco Baldini has been pushing Sarri’s case and has been in talks with the club president to assess the possibility of snapping up the Italian.

And according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, Roma president James Pallotta has identified the Chelsea boss as his top target to become the coach next season.

Roma are impressed by Sarri’s football philosophy and the success he achieved as Napoli boss.

The Italian’s first choice is also to join Roma if Chelsea decide to sack him at the end of the season.

Chelsea could get rid of him in the summer if they fail to return to the Champions League.
