Jurgen Klopp has rubbished suggestions that his Liverpool players are feeling the effects of being involved in two competitions in the final phase of the season.

Liverpool have made it to the Champions League semi-finals where they will be taking on Barcelona for a chance to play in their second successive final.

The Reds are also at the top of the Premier League table with a two-point lead over Manchester City, albeit playing a game more than the defending champions at the moment.

There are fears about the Liverpool squad running out of gas towards the end of the season because of the intensity of being involved in fighting in two competitions.

But Klopp insists that his players are not tired and they are delighted to be in with a chance to win two trophies in the business end of the season.

He admits that training is a lot lighter at this stage of the campaign as everyone knows their role in the team and they are focusing on getting things right on the pitch.

The Liverpool manager said in a press conference: “We are not tired. It’s a decisive period of the season. It is good that we are involved in two more competitions.

“We are still in the Champions League and the title race. We are not tired.

“Training is low intensity because we don’t have to do a lot because the boys know it.

“We have a little session tomorrow and then we go to Cardiff.

“We analyse, work and go for it.

"We create the basis but there is a moment you have to use it and we are in that.”

Liverpool will be in action on Sunday when they will travel to Wales to take on Cardiff City.
