Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski has lamented the lack of killer instinct in front of goal his side showed on Thursday night.

Already trailing 2-0 from the first leg in London, Napoli needed to score first in order put pressure on Arsenal at the San Paolo, but they missed a couple of good chances in the first half.

And an Alexandre Lacazette free-kick killed the tie off in the 36th minute and helped Arsenal reach the semi-finals of the Europa League, where they will face Valencia.

Zielinski expressed his disappointment at Napoli’s failure to make more of a match at home, but he feels his side showed that they can handle the big teams on big stages.

He believes Napoli played well but insisted that their problem was the lack of killer instinct and effectiveness in front of goal, which eventually cost them the tie.

Zielinski said on Sky Italia: “In my opinion, we are missing something. We even said it inside the dressing room.

“We know how to play against the big teams, we had a good game tonight.

“We need to be more effective in front of goal.

“We created opportunities but we need to be more lethal in front of goal.”

Napoli are still second in Serie A but are 17 points league leaders and defending champions Juventus.
