Neil McCann feels if Rangers can go on and win their final four league games then it can stand them in superb stead for next season.

Steven Gerrard's men produced a good display at Tynecastle on Saturday afternoon to beat Craig Levein's Hearts side 3-1, thanks to goals from Jermain Defoe, Ryan Jack and Nikola Katic.

While Rangers are all but out of the title race, the result means that Celtic cannot now clinch the title by beating Hibernian on Sunday.

The Gers have a further four league games to play, with visits from Aberdeen, Hibernian and Celtic to Ibrox, before a final day trip to Steve Clarke's Kilmarnock side.

And former Rangers winger McCann thinks if the Gers can win their remaining games then it will set the tone for next season, when hopes will be high at Ibrox that Celtic can be stopped.

"Rangers want to be best of the rest", McCann said on BBC Sportsound.

"Celtic are not going to throw it away.

"So Rangers want to go and win their remaining fixtures, which will set them up brilliantly for next season."

Gerrard used all his three substitutes at Tynecastle as he brought Glenn Middleton on in the 72nd minute, while Matt Polster and Kyle Lafferty were introduced in the 83rd minute.
