Celtic legend Pat Bonner feels insists that whoever the Bhoys appoint as their new permanent manager, they must be allowed to go their own way and not follow Brendan Rodgers' philosophy.

The Hoops were held to a stalemate at Easter Road on Sunday as Hibernian weathered the storm to prevent the visitors from moving closer to wrapping up their eighth consecutive league title.

Celtic were kept at bay for the majority of the game due to a heroic performance from Ofir Marciano, who made a number of decisive saves to salvage a point for Hibs.

And although Celtic are still in pole position to clinch the Premiership title, interim boss Neil Lennon has come in for criticism from some quarters due to the side's playing style and recent draws against Livingston and Hibs.

However, Bonner feels Lennon has done well to keep Celtic going after taking over from Rodgers and insisted the Bhoys cannot force whoever is the new manager to adopt his predecessor’s attacking philosophy.

"He's filled in a gap, he's done okay, and he's kept them going”, Bonner told BBC Sportsound.

"But you can't bring a manager in and tell them, 'you have to play the same way Brendan Rodgers did'.

“You have to find someone who is close to Brendan Rodgers or you've got to then change it."
