Napoli are monitoring the situation of West Ham and Newcastle United linked striker Duvan Zapata, who they could move to try to sign in the summer transfer window.

Zapata, who joined Atalanta on a season-long deal from Sampdoria last summer, has taken Serie A by storm with his prolific record in front of goal this term.

The Colombian has netted 25 goals across all competitions this season, and several clubs, including Newcastle and West Ham, have kept a close eye on his exploits.

And according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, Napoli are the latest entrants in the list of potential suitors who could snare Zapata away in the summer.

The 28-year-old was on the books at Napoli when he joined from Estudiantes in 2013, but failed to establish himself after loan spells at Udinese and Sampdoria.

As such, the striker secured a permanent switch to Sampdoria last summer and has resurrected his career after being subsequently loaned out to Atalanta for the ongoing season.

In addition to Napoli, Inter are also believed to be keeping a close eye on Zapata ahead of the summer transfer window, as they aim to cope with the potential departure of Mauro Icardi.

Atalanta, who have an option to buy Zapata at the end of the season, could bag a healthy profit, if they decide to exercise the option and cash-in on the striker.
