Aston Villa manager Dean Smith fully believes that Leeds United will come at his side at the weekend as they chase automatic promotion this season.

Leeds have suffered back-to-back defeats to Wigan Athletic and Brentford, respectively, and have now dropped down to third in the Championship table, behind second-placed Sheffield United.

With two games left in the season and a three-point gap to make up, Leeds have little choice but to win both their remaining fixtures and hope Sheffield United drop points.

Smith is aware of Leeds’ strengths and is expecting a tactical battle when Aston Villa travel to Elland Road to take on the Yorkshire giants next Sunday.

However, he is expecting a wounded Leeds to come hard at the Villans at home as they are still in with a chance of earning automatic promotion to the Premier League.

But Aston Villa have won their last ten games and Smith wants his side to continue that run in Yorkshire.

He told the club’s official channel: “It will be a very tactical game.

“I have played against them a couple of times already this season.

“They are going for an automatic position at the moment.

"They will go hell for leather. But we have to also because we want to continue this run we’re on.

“It’s going to be a tough game.

"But we will have a couple of days off now and then start building for that one.”

Leeds will finish the season with an away trip to Ipswich Town on the final day of the season.
