Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has admitted the friendly game against Liverpool Under-23s on Monday proved to be useful in learning more about his players.
The Light Blues locked horns with the Liverpool Under-23s on Monday as Gerrard aimed to dish out an opportunity to some of the fringe players in the first team and the starlets in the academy.
Rangers were outplayed in the first half by the young Reds, but improved in the second half after the introduction of a few promising players from the youth set-up.
And in the wake of their friendly game against Liverpool Under-23s, Gerrard has admitted the showdown proved very useful in learning more about his players at Rangers.
The Gers boss went on to claim he learned more about the players in that 90 minutes than over the whole season, but conceded his team were embarrassing in the first half.
"It was a very useful game. I probably learned more in that 90 minutes about the players than I have done all season because it was a game of two halves”, Gerrard told Rangers TV.
"First half was an embarrassment and the second half was fantastic.
“It was a very useful exercise for different reasons but in terms of us as staff, we learnt so much about the players individually."
Rangers will be eyeing registering their fourth successive win since the Old Firm derby defeat last month, when they face Aberdeen at Ibrox on Sunday in the Scottish Premiership.
