Bayern Munich have failed with an offer for Tottenham Hotspur target Nicolo Zaniolo, as Roma continue to be unconvinced over selling their midfield jewel.

Zaniolo has taken big steps forward with his progress over the course of the season, after joining Roma from Italian rivals Inter last summer.

He is not short of admirers, with Juventus, Arsenal and Chelsea all keen on adding Zaniolo to the ranks.

But Tottenham have been making big moves in recent days to sign Zaniolo, with club chairman Daniel Levy in touch with Roma to find the margins of an agreement to take the youngster to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But Roma are yet to be convinced over selling Zaniolo and in a sign of the Giallorossi's thinking they have now rejected a proposal from Bayern Munich.

The German giants offered Roma a fee of €45m plus bonuses, but it has been turned down, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

Roma still see Zaniolo as the man they want as the cornerstone of their side in the 2019/20 campaign.

And they have been in talks with him over a new contract.
