Napoli have already thrashed out personal terms on a contract with Arsenal linked midfielder Jordan Veretout ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Frenchman is likely to leave Fiorentina after spending two seasons with the club and his progress in Italian football means he is not short of admirers.

He had a torrid time in England with Aston Villa, but his resurrection in Italy has not gone under the radar, meaning a move is now likely.

Arsenal have been keeping tabs on the young midfielder with a view to taking him to north London in the summer, as Unai Emery hunts midfield reinforcements.

But it seems he is likely to be on his way to Napoli and, according to Italian daily Il Mattino, he has already reached an agreement over a contract with the Serie A giants.

Napoli have been putting in all the legwork for Veretout in recent weeks and have agreed on a five-year contract worth €1.9m per season with the player, something which gives them a major advantage in the chase for his signature.

The Italian club are also closing in on an agreement with Fiorentina, who are reportedly asking for a fee in the region of €30m.

Despite interest from England, Veretout could well take the next step in his career under Carlo Ancelotti at Napoli.
