Napoli are ready to swoop for Atalanta full-back Timothy Castagne, who has also been a target for Scottish champions Celtic.

Celtic tried and failed to sign the Serie A defender in the January transfer window, before turning to a loan deal for Jeremy Toljan.

The Scottish champions have continued to keep tabs on him as they approach a summer of change in the full-back position, but they face fierce competition to secure his signature.

The defender has continued to impress in Italy and has piqued the interest of Serie A giants such as AC Milan and Roma ahead of the transfer window.

But now, according to Italian outlet Oracolo Rossonero, Napoli are the ones who are in pole position to sign the Atalanta defender this summer and are closing in on him.

The Azzurri are in the market for full-backs and anticipating competition for Castagne, they have moved quickly to make sure they are the clear front runners to sign him.

Napoli are prepared to close out an agreement with Atalanta and secure the signature of the Belgian ahead of the summer transfer window officially opening.

Boss Carlo Ancelotti is a fan of the player and it remains to be seen if Celtic can do anything to stop Castange from moving to Napoli.
