Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been in talks with Roma to discuss the possibility of taking charge of the club in the summer.

Claudio Ranieri is set to leave the club once his contract expires at the end of the season and Roma are in the market for a new coach.

The Serie A giants have been assessing a number of names, and Maurizio Sarri and Antonio Conte are believed to be on their shortlist of targets.

But it seems another former Chelsea boss is very much on their wish list and it has been claimed that Roma are chasing the signature of Mourinho.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, Mourinho has been in touch with the Serie A giants over taking charge of Roma ahead of the start of the new season.

But the former Manchester United boss wants to wait and see whether Roma qualify for the Champions League before making any commitment.

The Portuguese does not want to manage a club who could be playing in the Europa League next season.
