Valencia coach Marcelino has urged the club's fans to get behind the side at the Mestalla and make for a difficult night for Arsenal on Thursday evening in Spain.

The two sides are scheduled to take on each other for the second time in the space of eight days as the Spaniards host the Gunners in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final tie.

The first leg of the tie at the Emirates ended in a 3-1 loss for Marcelino's side and they will have a daunting task at hand when they host the Gunners at the Mestalla.

Marcelino accepts that his side made mistakes at Arsenal and says the third goal hurt them.

The Valencia boss is now looking for the club's fans to help create a difficult atmosphere for Arsenal to operate in.

And Marcelino insists Valencia are approaching the second leg with a feeling of excitement.

"Right after the first leg we knew the mistakes we had made, and we were very hurt by the final goal", Marcelino was quoted as saying by his club's official site.

"But we were also clear that we were going to fight.

"I ask that the fans help us, and together we will make it a very difficult game for Arsenal in the return leg.

"We are hopeful and excited, and we will leave everything out on the pitch to try to get to the final."

Valencia beat Arsenal 2-1 on the Gunners' last visit to the Mestalla, in 2003.
