Brescia president Massimo Cellino has set his face against the departure of Liverpool target Sandro Tonali during the summer transfer window.

Tonali, who came up through the ranks at Brescia, played an integral role for his team as they clinched promotion back to Serie A, from the second tier this season.

The midfielder has been a standout performer for Eugenio Corini’s side throughout the season and his performances have seen almost all the big Italian clubs linked with him, along with Premier League side Liverpool.

However, Cellino remains disinterested in the sale of Tonali and has set his face against the midfielder’s potential departure during the transfer window in the summer.

The club president admitted it is not easy to find good players like Tonali and insists he does not want to make the mistakes of the past by letting go of the team’s best players.

Cellino also insisted that Tonali should consider continue plying his trade at Brescia for a little longer to expose himself to Serie A and improve himself even more.

“As I said it is not easy to find good players”, Cellino told Italian radio programme Radio Anch'io lo Sport.

“I do not want to make the mistakes of the past and I think that it is right for him to continue playing at Brescia for a little longer to improve again.”

Tonali, who has made 33 appearances in Serie B this term, is under contract at the Stadio Mario Rigamonti until the summer of 2021.
