FIFA’s appeal committee have upheld the two-transfer window ban on Chelsea and the club will not be able to sign new players for the first team this summer.

Chelsea were originally banned earlier this year by FIFA for the next two transfer window for breaking rules over signing under-age players.

The Blues lodged an appeal with football’s governing body, hoping to get a stay order which would have allowed them to sign players in the summer.

However, after deliberating over the last couple of months, the appeals committee have decided against lifting the ban on the club by FIFA.

Chelsea will not be allowed to make additions to their squad in the summer but have been given a reprieve to sign players under the age of 16.

The west London club are now set to take FIFA to the Court of Arbitration for Sports to see whether the ruling can be overturned.

Chelsea will hope that they either get a temporary freeze on the ban to allow them to sign players this summer or completely overturn FIFA’s decision.

But, as things stand, Chelsea will not be allowed to add players to their squad in the upcoming transfer window.
